IMPACT SOLUTION
The industry we belong to: Q. HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE (zdravstvo in socialno varstvo)
We contribute to the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 3 - GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING (zdravje in dobro počutje), SDG 11 - SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES (trajnostna mesta in skupnosti), SDG 12 - RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION (odgovorna poraba in proizvodnja)
Society challenge we tackle and our approach to solving it:
Our impact venture targets the social challenge of minimizing product waste in the pharmaceutical industry. By connecting pharmacies with potential buyers or donation recipients for their soon-to-expire products, we aim to address the SDGs of Good Health and Well-Being, Responsible Consumption and Production, and indirectly contribute to Climate Change mitigation. Our approach promotes sustainable practices by reducing the environmental impact of pharmaceutical waste, ensuring that essential healthcare products reach those in need, and fostering responsible consumption within the industry.
We want to increase positive impact, including sustainability, social impact, inclusion in charity actions and changes of policies with our following activities:
1 / Sustainable Impact and Care for Environment and Nature:
To increase our positive impact on the environment and promote sustainability, we will focus on the following goals:
a) Waste Reduction: Our platform aims to minimize pharmaceutical product waste by facilitating the sale or donation of soon-to-expire products, ensuring they are utilized rather than discarded. This contributes to reducing landfill waste and the associated environmental impact.
b) Promotion of Responsible Consumption: By encouraging pharmacies to actively manage their stock and connect with buyers or donation recipients, we promote responsible consumption practices within the pharmaceutical industry. This reduces overproduction and helps minimize unnecessary resource consumption.
c) Environmental Awareness: We will raise awareness among pharmacies and users about the environmental consequences of pharmaceutical waste. Through educational campaigns and resources, we aim to promote a deeper understanding of the impact of waste on the environment and encourage sustainable behaviors.
2 / Social Impact, Including Impact on the Underserved:
Our impact venture aims to have a positive social impact, particularly on underserved communities. Our goals include:
a) Access to Healthcare Products: By connecting pharmacies with potential buyers or donation recipients, we ensure that essential healthcare products reach those who may have limited access due to economic or geographical constraints. This helps bridge the gap in healthcare access and promotes equitable distribution of resources.
b) Supporting Vulnerable Populations: We will actively collaborate with nonprofit organizations and associations working with vulnerable populations, such as low-income individuals, homeless communities, or disaster-affected regions. By facilitating product donations to these organizations, we address the specific needs of underserved communities and contribute to their well-being.
3/ Charity Action and Collaboration with Stakeholders:
To contribute to solving the societal challenge, we will undertake the following charity actions and collaborate with stakeholders:
a) Donation Partnerships: We will establish partnerships with reputable nonprofit organizations and associations focused on healthcare, poverty alleviation, or food security. These partnerships will facilitate the donation of soon-to-expire pharmaceutical products to those in need, ensuring efficient distribution and maximum social impact.
b) Community Engagement: We will actively engage with local communities to understand their specific needs and challenges. This will help us tailor our platform and services to better serve underserved populations and address their unique requirements.
c) Stakeholder Collaboration: We will collaborate with pharmacies, healthcare providers, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders to align efforts in reducing pharmaceutical waste and improving access to healthcare products. By working together, we can develop comprehensive solutions and leverage each other's expertise to create a lasting impact.
4/ Policy and Regulatory Changes:
Based on the societal challenge we address, certain policy, regulatory, or measures changes could support our efforts:
a) Standardized Expiration Dates: Implementing standardized expiration date guidelines for pharmaceutical products could help reduce confusion and wastage. Clear guidelines and regulations would ensure that products are utilized fully within their safe usability period.
b) Tax Incentives: Governments could consider offering tax incentives or benefits to pharmacies that actively participate in initiatives to minimize product waste and promote responsible consumption. This would encourage pharmacies to prioritize sustainable practices and align their efforts with the societal goals.
c) Industry Collaboration and Reporting: Encouraging transparency and collaboration within the pharmaceutical industry by establishing reporting requirements on product waste and donation activities. This could foster accountability, knowledge sharing, and encourage best practices among industry stakeholders.
It is important to note that while policy and regulatory changes can provide support, our impact venture aims to make a significant difference by actively working on the ground and collaborating with stakeholders. By combining efforts and creating awareness, we can contribute to solving the societal challenge more effectively.
